Obituary:
On the evening of April 28, 2024 Joel “Joe” Ray Lewis peacefully passed into Eternity surrounded by family in New Hope, Minnesota. He was 74 years old.
Joel was born in Forest City, Iowa to Forest and Gladys Lewis in 1949. He spent most of his life in northern Minnesota living on an acreage in the woods close to Lake Superior where he raised his 3 children. Josie (Ryan), Forest and Corrie (Ben) with his wife, Kathy. He was an accomplished artist, avid horse trainer/rider and devoted to his faith in Christ and the fellowship he shared with other believers. He loved being with his family, including 4 grandchildren; Wilhelm, Beowulf, August and Geraldine. Joel enjoyed (very) strong French press coffee, BWCA camping, and late night art studio talks with close friends.
Joel was preceded in death by his father Forest, his mother Gladys, his brother-in-laws Larry and Bob, a nephew Elliot and a granddaughter Esther. He is survived by his wife Kathy, his 3 children, 4 grandchildren, brother Vern (Kathy), sisters Judy and Cherry (Don) and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
